Name: | Firuz |
---|
Name: Firuz
Age: 19
Birthdate: August 15, 610 (Leo)
Class: Nomad
Weapons: Bow, whip (preferred)
Country: Atsiria
Family: Mother (Nadaea, 42), Father (Mahir, 40), Sister (Vaelda, 13)
Blood type: AB
HISTORY
Firuz was the first and only son in his family, which was one of a chain that held Kavan together throughout its recent history. Before his mother was his grandmother, and before her his great grandmother, and even a few beyond that. Some -- though Firuz was never naive enough to agree with them -- said that Firuz's line had been holding Kavan together for as long as Kavan had existed.
Firuz never expected to take up his mother's mantle of dealing with the city as he grew up, especially once his younger sister, Vaelda, was born. Vaelda was the stars, moon, and sun for much of Firuz's life, and it always grated at him that she woud never be given the life she deserved. He learned how to help his mother with the affairs of keeping the city running throughout his adolescence and helped Vaelda learn her letters. The older his sister got, the greater the spark he saw within her became. She was brilliant, picking up new subjects with ease and taking to them well. She was talented with art and music as well as with words and numbers. She was quickly becoming beautiful, as well.
It wasn't fair, and Firuz didn't know exactly how to fix it.
But he got his opportunity when he was attending the celebrations of the Queen's birthday in Razen through a happy accident in 629.
It was a fluke that he even attended. His parents had been planning to attend as a family, but a few merchants in Kavan were found to be cheating on their taxes, and they had to stay behind to take care of it. Vaelda was too young to travel, even with her brother, so Firuz went to court with a few of his other rich Kavanite friends, planning to spend the break partying and living it up.
But when the Council was dissolved, and when the Queen made her announcement to the city, Firuz saw his opportunity.
He spent all the money he'd been planning to drink and gamble away on a beautiful painting of the sunset over Kavan. He dug his finery out of his trunks and sent away for more to be brought from home. He presented the painting to the Queen on her birthday along with his intentions to run, and his campaign -- to recognize Kavan as a full city of Atsiria reigned over by a noble house, to be indebted to the Queen for as long as its bloodline would last.
PERSONALITY
Firuz has lived a fairly pampered lifestyle, though not one as strict as an Atsirian nobleman might have had. As a result, he's come out more outgoing than a typical Atsirian man, but still restrained enough to know what lines aren't meant to be crossed. He's charming, outgoing, and friendly, and almost arrogant in demeanor, especially when among his friends. In mixed company or in a business or political situation, however, he still will defer to a woman with more power than him, and do it with a smile on his face -- even if he does not particularly want to defer, he knows when the line must be drawn.
Firuz has some knowledge of politics, and what he doesn't know, he makes up in observation. Since he announced his intentions to run for a council seat, it has already been noted that he tends to repeat back the Queen's stances to her on many issues he's less knowledgeable about. That said, it does not dilute his passion for his own pet issues any. He's well-spoken and intelligent, and has come up with a variety of reasons to support his platform -- the historic importance of Kavan as a port, how the city would be indebted to the queen (though he is careful to never say his family, no matter how obvious his intentions are), how it would show that she is willing to move Atsiria forward, and not leave it stuck where it has been for centuries.
He is tremendously fond of women, an intense flatterer, and very gentlemanly in their presence.
Like many teenage boys his age, he tends to have a love for fine wine and gambling, even if he keeps his indulgences more private than his friends might. He also has a taste for more intellectual pursuits, and spent much of his time as a child reading in the library.
APPEARANCE
Firuz bears rich olive skin that some Atsirians carry. Firuz claims that his comes from a mixture of nomadic blood -- from his grandfather -- and from the mountain tribes of the borderlands, which he imagines are further back in his history. He has dark brown hair that often appears black in the right light, and crisp, clear aqua eyes. He carries himself easily with a bearing that isn't quite noble but is certainly learned from those who are, and dresses as though he already believes himself to be of noble blood. Firuz reasons that while it offends some, it's important to look the part.
He has a clear, light tenor voice and tends to speak very quickly.
